I've been watching the moisture forcast for the next week and then some
pretty closely, and it simply does not look good for Texas. GFS currently
shows that when Harvey dissipates it will drift westward while still a very
moist airmass. It will combine over central Texas with the monsoonal flow
traveling northward through Mexico. That will produce a very moist airmass
that will stretch from Honduras to northern Texas, and the rain will continue
to fall all along the Texas Gulf Coast for the foreseeable future. By this
time next week the rainfall totals in some areas could easily exceed 40 inches.
The low-altitude low-pressure system that will form along Baja is still in
the forecast.
Plus, there is a tropical storm forming over northern Florida that is
going to travel up the Atlantic coast pretty closely. It will form a weak
nor-easter over New Brunswick next Saturday.
