What, dangerous ? Standing in the street right outside my low rise
apartment block. It was quite a sensation to be outside as the wind
approached and slowed, blowing in one direction, to then experience the
dead calm and then to feel the wind pick up blowing in the other
direction. Actually, smoking was wise because the rising smoke was a
good wind indicator :-)

In August 1971 Typhoon Rose came straight over Hong Kong delivering wind
gusts as high as 170mph. I remember standing outside for about 15
minutes in the eye of the storm. The air was motionless. Cigarette smoke
curled upwards without disturbance. An hour later one would be blown
over in the wind. Vehicles were tossed around like confetti.
John, that was a VERY dangerous and reckless thing to do.
You know smoking is dangerous.
