Could be the trouble (or not). If the red channel is already close to or slightly clipping, depending on the app and
tool, it could go oranger by increasing red. That's why I always have the histogram visible and watch it.
If, for example, I were changing color using the Hue/Saturation tool in PS, I could use the Saturation and/or Luminance
sliders to control that.
I envy your ability with the recovery processing, but am not about to get that
deeply involved at this point in my life.
It's fun for me, but not everyone's enjoyment.

If it were my flower, I would simply clip one and bring it to the monitor. But, Bob is a little bit cranky about his
yard..................... ;-)
At the rate ours flower and spread, there's no shortage here.
