Many long term FF photographers want somewhat to very shallow DoF, and want to know what they are going to get. Smaller
sensors confused them mightily. Hence the development of DoF equivalencies. Makes sense. If I KNOW what f4 looks like on
FF, and don't even have to think about it, or chimp, I'd like to know what aperture will look like that on my APS-C, or
µ4/3 or whatever sensor camera.
I am the opposite, most of the time, looking for more DoF, so I ignore those comparisons. Well, actually looking for
more DoF to the depth of my subject, then less beyond. :-)
