I recall it was thought of as that at one but it was never really very good,
IMO. As a mediocre euro lager, not best in class ever-- not that it is my
favorite style.
We have astoundingly good microbreweries within driving distance and don't have
to put up with such swill anymore. I am sure there are wonderful offerings in
the country of origin as well.
That beer never ranks well for good reason and it doesn't age well in those
green bottles that can make it even worse. (Hop isohumulones are degraded by
photochemical reactions leading to yuck)

I have a few Whirlpools from Night shift brewery--a wonderfully bright APA
and Mayflower Porter--an English Porter style in the fridge now.
