We have a moderate low-pressure system arriving here early Friday, and
when it gets into the southern Great Plains on Saturday that moderate profile
is going to change abruptly. Beginning early Saturday a vigorous cold front
will develop from central Texas to Iowa. The front will move rapidly eastward,
gaining strength as it interacts with a strong high pressure system from Cape
Hatteras to Cuba. At this time, the forecast shows the intensity peaking on
Sunday from east Texas to Illinois, with winds at altitude exceeding 100 kts.
There will undoubtedly be a widesprerad outbreak of severe weather from
the Midwest to the Deep South, extending into Monday, possibly in eastern
Tennessee.
