Looks good, Moose.
Thanks! Maybe the best first shot with a lens I've managed. Usually, it's just
a throwaway shot in my haste to try it out.
From what can be seen the bokeh looks quite nice and the highest mag at the
long end a real plus.
That first one is a single shot. Most of the rest of the flowers are stacks. PS always uses the most in focus slice for
background when it blends. I think I reversed that for background for all of these but one, where I liked the OoF look
of an intermediate slice best.
I wonder how the macro shots compare at the long end of the 12-100 with the CU
diopter at same mag as the new PL 12-60?
Once I have a C-U diopter on the lens, I would go for greater mag. So I'm only mildly curious about that specific
comparison.
One other thing, the sync IS was crazy good on the E-MI MkII and Oly 12-100.
It does not seem very likely the IS in the lens could be as good, but perhaps
good enough.
Oh, I don't expect to use the lens IS unless I use it for some reason on a GM5. IBIS on the E-M5 II is awfully good. I
really have more trouble in my typical use with subject movement than insufficient IBIS. Better is nice, but has to
balance against other factors.
I do have trouble seeing His Mooseness giving up the long end of the 12-100
with his tele eye, despite the nicer size of the PL.
Neither is a lens I would really be happy with stand-alone. If that were the intended use, I wouldn't even be trying the
12-60. This is all about the two body/lens working technique. I was not much troubled by the gap from 50 to 75 mm with
my old lens set-up. It may be that a 60 to 100 mm coverage gap will be similar.
Await further impressions.
Me too!
