I have query about the LR catalogue/database.
How do you cope with the situation where all your image files (.ORF, .NEF,
.JPG, etc.) are stored outside the catalogue in your own file structure then
you get a new PC and decide to consolidate those image files (previously stored
on different drives) onto a different drive configuration ? Is there some way
you can re-reference the pointers in the catalogue to the new file locations
without having to re-index your images ?
I think you have to create a new catalog and fill it from scratch. But I'm no expert, as I've avoided that problem. I've
always had my images all on one HDD in the computer box. I don't recall what I had before the 1.5 TB drives (one in the
box, one BU). I replaced them with 3 TD drives a few years ago. Now, magically, as I can see the end of that space in
sight, 6TB drives are available.
