Oh, I understand, Moose. 35mm is one of those focal lengths that I
have a love/hate relationship with. As a general-purpose lens--the one
you can do everything with, maybe not well, but at least you can do
everything with it, the 35mm is my sweet spot.
As a "normal" lens, 35mm has several distinct advantages over 50mm:
1. About one effective F-stop of increased DoF or one stop of higher
shutter speed.
2. Ability to halve your camera-subject distance while capturing the
room environment.
3. Related to point 1, less finicky about critical focus.
4. Bokeh. It may seem odd, but the OMZ 35/2.8 has some of the finest
bokeh in the business.
