Yes, automagic but not user controllable unlike Canyon files in ACR. Why is
that pray tell?
Sometimes wish to leave a tad of vignetting or more commonly the geometric
distortion MORE uncorrected to "correct" for volume
anamorphosis. One could also use the "cylindrical" correction in DXO which is
less complete than a spherical correction that is mimicked by leaving the
barrel distortion less corrected.
Even in my Moose at work in marsh shot under-correction of the geometric
distortion was utilized. Moose was near the edge of the frame and was
stretched out more than I found flattering for esteemed list member. One can
not tell the marsh is not corrected at all of course. Yes one can re-torture
pixels in PS to correct that but better to leave the pixels less disturbed in
the first place. Thus a preference for DXO for these shots. Panny does not
provide stepper motor counts to provide focusing distance unlike Oly which
does. Some aberrations are focus distance dependent
and I am not sure DXO bothers to take this into account for Panny bodies,
though the focusing distance can be set manually I the application.

Yes indeed, well deserved, a super analysis. Unsurpassed to date and still 5
lens cap rating. Dr. Distortion, long lost 2nd cousin once removed of Dr.
Diffraction, would have been proud.

I do like the PTL algorithm better as not to stretch out the edges as much.
Let the user decide, Mike
