Could be, but Jackson is almost dead-center on the path. If you are
going to fight insane crowds, there is a bit of justification for it
there. It's not just a matter of the eclipse, but the locale. If I
just wanted to see the eclipse, I'll just go an hour south of where I
live.
The places on my short list would be:
1. Smoky Mountain National Park
2. Grand Tetons
3. Borah Peak
4, Casper, Wyoming and other parts of Wyoming. It's hard to go wrong
with ANYWHERE in Wyoming.
As to Oregon, I suppose there are some options there, but then we'd
have to put up with the general strangeness that defines Oregon.
Or, we could say "screw it" and go kayaking around Isle Royale.
