Tropical Storm Julia is certainly creating a mess for the Carolina coast.
Looks like it's going to hang around for quite some time. UKMET has it moving
up the coast to Cape Hatteras, then reversing direction back to Charleston,
where it will turn inland. Hard to say what's going to happen with this one,
but it can easily be said that it's weird.
The sea surface temperature (SST) is close to normal in this area, but
further to the north beyond Cape Hatteras is is 2C or warmer than average.
This has been the case for a couple of years now.
In addition, TS Karl is presently heading westward toward the Atlantic
coast, but NHC and UKMET do not agree in the slightest as to what the track
will be at the end of the week.
