Yup - we still have a working (and officially maintained) red phone box in our
village. I've seen it used once in the 3.5 years we've lived here, but I know
before we arrived the village heritage society acted to keep it alive. The
alternative was to buy it for 1 and turn it to alternative usage. Some places
have made them into mini lending libraries, info booths, antique display
cabinets, ...
