It's at this little village only a few miles from Lake George and at the
far southern tip of Lake Champlain where Benedict Arnold had his little
fleet of ships built. Of course, it was hardly enough to stop the
British Navy but it did slow them down from reaching the Hudson.
Now, of course, if you go to the Navy's official website and brief
history records you won't find any mention of the Battle of Valcour
Island. Probably because, if they did, they'd have to mention that
unmentionable name... Benedict Arnold.
