The internal front wall as you call it is the radiator support. There
are large bolts to mount the radiator support to the frame most cars of
that era had the radiator support in one place. The difference in
distance between engine and radiator was usually compensated for by
adding a fan shroud. That is why most six cylinders do not have a fan
shroud and most all V8 do. That's also why that after market fan may
have been added, because the fan shroud has been lost or it was
originall6y a six.

I have a question about the unused front foot of the engine
compartment in the Chevy. Is the internal front wall that the horns
and fan are mounted on something car makers put in back then if you
chose an engine that was physically smaller than the biggest
option? The fan is definitely an add-on. The factory fan would be
belt-powered and behind the radiator in the 50's.
That's a sweet lookin' '57 Chevy.
