Moose pointed out that Chuck N. (uncharacteristically) missed the
"reversed" in my mention of using an old 8 mm movie camera lens for macro.
An Elgeet 7.5/1.5 is available now on ebay for, just what I said, $15.
See: 311683115290. The same seller also has a Zeika (never heard of this
brand) 6/1.9 lens (item 311683108044), again for $15. These are small
lenses, and they are in the smaller screw mount size, known as a D-mount;
any C-mount lens is considerably larger.
I put my reversed 7/2.5 Elgeet D-mount lens onto my OM4T, focused on a
ruler, and saw that the field of view is all of 3 mm wide. So that's
already 12X magnification, and that without any extension. Needless to
say, it's pretty difficult to use handheld in the field.
Again, my thanks to John Shaw for the concept.
