I'm accepting the excuse not made that it's classic shallow DoF portrait
technique - focus on the near eye. ;-)
I've complained in the past about some of Tina's Central America portraits with big blobs of fuzzy noses in front of
sharp eyes, but with macro-ish DoF, one doesn't have the option of dialing in more DoF with the aperture.
I've just been looking at some images of I took of small bees, and bemoaning the super shallow DoF at those
magnifications. A couple of perfect poses, with only part of the bee anything like in focus. Focus stacking would work,
of course, if I could just get them to stand still for a few seconds. :-)
