Someone let me know when it's safe to come out.
The greater existential question may be when it's safe not to go out.
Those folks who have the time, interest, and sometimes funding, to study such things, opine that those of us living in
the first world live in by far the safest place and time in recorded history.
The % likelihood of any of us being killed or injured in terrorist attacks or
urban crime is infinitesimally small.
It as with the supposedly great danger of a child being abducted by a stranger on the way to or from school, where they
are at much greater risk of being killed in a car crash if their parents drive them. Both risks are small, but abduction
much, much the smaller.
There is always risk, that's life. Being driven to avoid living fully by fear of really insignificant dangers is the
larger risk.
