Same here, both sandals and age. Living in a rather mild climate year 
'round I wear my Keens (Newports) 95% of the time. Now I said 'mild' not 
'hot' so socks are required for comfort. I think it is a PacNW thing. I 
wear them for everything. Gardening, out in the ditch hooking up 
plumbing and wiring, at work, etc. So I find socks much easier on the 
feet too.
