Yeah, I would have preferred to go fully local, but it was about a 15% premium. OTOH, the local shop, which has been in
business since about 1940, seemed quite happy with the business. They were very busy, and seemed not at all discomfited
at installing Tire-Rack tires.
Perhaps competition is such that they make little on tires themselves, and rely on mounting, alignment and other
services for their profit? I paid them for mounting, alignment and a smog check.
