It is certainly dangerous being a cyclist, Chris, but not normally when there
is a bicycle lane available, in daylight and on a straight road. Many cyclists
in the UK are killed or injured when a lorry or an artic (“semi”) turns across
them at a junction, but this seems less understandable.
I’m 62 in April and the only increased checking of my health is for my flying
for the RAF. I have an ECG every 6 months and a set of tests under stress
(walking hard) every 2 years; I’m due my next one in April. I don’t think that
I need any more driving tests of any sort until I’m 70.
