Trying not to peek at the images while Lightroom is chugging away on
the imports, but I am noticing something that I really made an effort
at for this wedding. I really tried to capture the emotions in this
wedding. In order to do that, taking on a lower profile was important,
as was just taking time to just let the story evolve in front of me.
However, something is coming to mind. It is so dependent on the people
involved. Some weddings are all plastic. Fake emotions are everywhere.
It's like being at a Hillary Clinton campaign event. If there is any
emotion to be captured, it has to be manufactured. As the professional
wedding photographer, it is my job to create what isn't there.
Sometimes, the emotions that ARE there aren't anything like what you
want to capture. I'm reminded of a wedding I shot in 1999 that
involved a gun. It was NOT a joyous affair to say the least. The only
good I can think of that one is that it has given me great jokes and
banter for when photographing the formals.
Of course, I had to be a little careful at this one, because I could
tell that half the wedding party was packing heat.
And to think that I actually get PAID to have this much fun.
