<<<I'm skeptical that such precision is measurable. Sure it is measurable. Physicists are born skeptics and thus extremely cautious. This data has been checked and rechecked innumerable times. They even inject false signals on occasion t keep the teams on their toes. They have already demonstrated consistent precision to 10 **-20 meter range. Wait until the next upgrade when the improved precision will likely lead to detecting events averaging weekly. The arms they shoot the lasers down are 4km in a vacuum for a reason. The chance of false identical signals being detected with the perfect signature of the black hole event both in WA and LA LIGO facilities offset by the 0.007 sec has got to be close to zero. https://dcc.ligo.org/public/0008/G1000029/001/G1000029-v1_UNCC-LIGO-talk.pdf https://www.ligo.caltech.edu/page/faq Relatively precise, Mike -- _________________________________________________________________ Options: http://lists.thomasclausen.net/mailman/listinfo/olympus Archives: http://lists.thomasclausen.net/mailman/private/olympus/ Themed Olympus Photo Exhibition: http://www.tope.nl/ |
