In Peter May's most excellent Lewis Trilogy--Black House, Lewis Man, and Chess
Men--I seem to recall him describing wind and water of North American origin
smashing the Outer Hebrides.
Didn't mean to imply you get our hurricanes, just that some of your blows get
the wind up over here before landing over there.
That said, I highly recommend the Peter May books for those who like their
detective stories up close and personal, and who appreciate an evocative sense
of place.
