I used f/3.5 to obscure an annoying
background that I was unable to totally avoid by deciding on a
position.
f/3.5 has the additional benefit of hopefully drawing
attention to the principal object of the shot, which it did.

Very nice! Plane of Focus perfectly placed in both. F8
DoF perfect in the first. DoF not sufficient for my taste @ f3.5 on the
second.
