I looked at a Garmin 401....
I probably have mentioned that I use a Montana 600 series.It is a
multi-purpose tool for me. Very capable for hiking albeit kinda bulky.
Converts for use in the car with voice routing but the screen is small.
Was very handy in Scotland using the superb TalkyToaster free UK
software. Wish we had something similar here. May be tempted by the
recently available US version for purchase. Not only routed in the car
but also as a pedestrian. Used it extensively in Edinburgh to get
around. Before we picked up a car we get off the train, punch in our B&B
from the POI database and it would take us there walking by the shortest
route. Even would guide you up some of the Munros!
