In the UK there are special laws for sick leave, I believe. Employees are allowed to “self-certify” as sick for up to 5 days off; beyond that a doctor must provide the certification; sick leave is paid. I’m sure that there are top limits for sick leave, but I don’t know the facts there and there has to be some amount of negotiation with your line manager etc . . .
