Perhaps the name of the business goes back far enough that people didn't
know what neon signs were or how they operated. But if that were the
case the business would have to date at least back to the 40s or even
earlier. According to Wiki, neon signs were first demonstrated in 1910
and became popular in the 20s and 30s.

I thought that the wording of the sign, "Neon Electric Sign Manufacturers,"
was strangely funny and anachronistic. Aren't ALL neon signs electric?
