Gee, thanks Rick and Philippe--it was an on topic post as taken on OM.
On another note the Monarch counts are up a tad so far after a record very low
overwintering count in 2014 (34 million--down from historic avg of 1 billion)
and a modest improvement last winter--will know more after they return to
Mexico.
One bad winter could wipe out the migrating population. The smoking gun was
Roundup ready soybeans and corn decimating the host plant, milkweed--Monsanto
finally has thrown a small amount of cash to ameliorate the near extinction--
The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) with some matching funds has
started some habitat restoration planting milkweed in the Midwest--hopefully
not too little too late.
