I wonder why you have such odd problems that the rest of us don't seem
to encounter. I have no idea what it means to have evilbay "disable"
"functions". Nor do I have any idea what it means for something to
"time out at the system level". What is "the system"? How do you know
it's timing out or where?
I know very little about bikes but decided I'd play the part of a restoration parts buyer. Did a search for a "Raleigh crankset". Found one for 50s-60s bikes. Buy it now and everything else seems to be working just fine. I've never seen any of this stuff not work in probably 10 years of using ebay. Buy It Now is disabled and simply times out at the system level. You cannot contact any sellers. The shipping rate calculator says that my ZIP code is invalid. The "Help and Contact" page does not exist. The last system announcement was 10 September. This is American technology at its finest. When I got back home I check the defunct evilBay URLs using: http://internetsupervision.com/scripts/urlcheck/check.aspx and sure enough, most of them timed out. I was finally able to get to a Buy It Now item that I very much needed for a bike I'm restoring, but it took a full 45 minutes to complete the transaction, mostly due to evilBay timing out and disconnecting at their end. I endured this while at the same time repairing my refrigerator, which had been partially broken since last weekend. Maybe they'll have the shipping calculator working by tomorrow, but I doubt it.
