My experience with a script crippling my laptop yesterday also had me
blocked by the coffee house wifi for 24 hours, which really got my dander up.
Some in-depth investigating this morning disclosed that this is NOT an uncommon
problem, and it is NOT limited to evilBay. The problem is prevalent enough
that Mozilla has an extension to circumvent the problem called YesScript. With
it, you can specify the domain of the unwanted script and it will be kept from
executing, much the same as the host file blocks URLs at the system level.
I've already installed it and I cannot wait to give it a try so as to see
how effective it is.
