I have You Need a Map, but had to uninstall on my phone because it uses so
much available space. (I made the mistake of getting the iPone with only 16
gigs of memory. Won't make that mistake again. It's a great app.)
Chris Barker introduced me to Co-Pilot, which I installed on my iPhone, and
suddenly rendered my Garmin obsolete. Co-Pilot has maps, so all it needs is
the GPS signal.
Aaaaand, it's on sale this week. I bought the HD Premium version for $7. I just downloaded the latest maps for our
Magellan, so we'll get a chance for a showdown soon. We already sometimes run both the Magellan and Google Maps at the
same time. They don't always have the same opinion about routes, and especially about traffic.
This is our second Magellan. I learned my lesson when a new map for the refurb first one would have cost as much as I
paid for it. Current one has lifetime map updates. It also has traffic rerouting, probably the same info your Garmin
gets. The receiver is built into the 12v plug.
I am looking forward to having an app with built in maps and turn by turn on
the iPad mini, which is WiFi only.
Thanks for the info!
