I have this thing firewalled, malwared, and anti-virused to the hilt,
which makes start-up and shut-down a little slow. I also make liberal use of
the HOST file as a primary defense. Nice thing about older OSs is that fewer,
if any people are writing malware to affect them. They've instead moved on to
the newer ones. I still have a Win98SE machine and it hasn't seen any problems
for more than 5 years. I really want those crooks to focus on Win10 as they
will leave WinXP alone.
