As you all have probably heard, a piece of aircraft debris was found on a
beach on the island of Reunion, near Madagascar. By way of a part number,
Boeing enginners have positively identified it as a "flaperon" from a 777.
Only one 777 has ever crashed, so we obviously have a solid piece of evidence
for this aircraft that disappeared about 17 months ago. The engineers also
stated that the flaperon appeared to have been extended at the time it
separated from the aircraft.
A very badly torn up piece of luggage was also found, but it is not known
if it is associated with MH370.
These items will arrive in Paris tomorrow, where they will undergo a very
thorough examination.
