I really would not trust much that was written in the Telegraph under the guise
of news. Much of the opinion pieces are written by genuine journalists, but
the newspaper is as trustworthy as the Daily Mail.
Look further down the piece, for instance. Allegedly someone took control of
an airliner by plugging into the electronics box under his seat and moved the
aircraft sideways. Aero engineers would very much like that sort of
aerodynamic technology, to be able to “move an aircraft sideways” while in
forward flight.
