Was this near your house?--then probably the very closely related Western Tiger
Swallowtail.
Often have trouble in our area differentiating the yellow forms of the Eastern
Tiger Swallowtail from its close relative the Canadian Tiger Swallowtail--even
used to be considered subspecies.
The Eastern TS yellow marginal spotband on the front wing is broken into
distinct spots (usually at least), and the Canadian one is continuous.
