Mike,
I did some searching, near bedtime, and found a posting by a collector
of vintage cameras who also has a Mercury II in working order. He did
not give a diagram of the Tricor, but did refer to it as a triplet, and
said the post-war lenses were not imported, but were made in the
Universal factory.
If it's on the internet, you know it is the
truth........................................ :-)

I wonder if it is a Cooke Triplet? Sounds like 3 elements anyway. Some modern
version of Cooke Triplets, given all the degrees of freedom provided by
available glass, can be very very good.
