What's the surface on which the mouse is being used? I've had issues where
a surface's characteristics can be causing the problem. For example, a
glass desktop (or desktop cover) or a similar highly reflective surface can
cause a jumpy mouse because it produces both first and second surface
reflections that arrive at very slightly different angles. Sometimes
there's even a third surface reflection from the desk on which the glass
sits. The same results can come from a thin item under the mouse that one
thinks is opaque, but proves not to be at the wavelength the mouse uses.
