There was no need to invent something new called line pairs/image
height. 50 lines/mm resolution is actually 50 line pairs over an image
height of 1mm. It was already totally independent of image format. The
new terminology just makes it more complicated to compare to the old
without adding anything new or useful.

I don't know about lines/mm, as so many tests now use line pairs per
image height to make meaningful comparisons across different formats. I
do know that the best image stabilization is really competitive with
tripods in increasing capture of fine detail for many uses.
