Finally, after all these years, I have purchased a Pentax spotmeter. It's
a first-generation unit and comes with the padded case. Got it for about $26
on evilBay. It was sold cheaply because the seller could no longer obtain the
640 mercury battery for it. Lucky for me he didn't know about using the
zinc-air battery which just needs a small nylon sleeve to hold it in place.
I already have the clip-on one for the Gossen Luna-Pro, but I was not
overly happy with it even though it's smaller in size. I've been wanting to
try one of these higher grade spotmeters for flower photos so as to get a
better feel for the diversity of light levels.
I always carry an old General Electric PR-1 in the field, but for flowers
I just take a number of photos at various speeds to bracket the exposure. I
couldn't do that with film as it got pretty costly for the developing, so I got
pretty demanding about getting the exposure just right the first time.
