It seems odd to me that when you’re looking at a scene like this in real time, either your eyes or your brain add the necessary contrast. The RAW image just doesn’t have it. Not that the real-time vision looks like the Film Noir conversion. But to me, the manipulated versions seem to say something about the feel of the scene.
