It was an interesting though nightmarish airplane to work on. Same
engines on both sides, but different gearboxes and props so that they spun in
opposite directions. The result was no "critical engine".
The P-38 and the DeHaviland Mosquito both had their cannons in the nose.
In the Pacific, the Japanese feared the P-38 above everything else.
