Phew! I’ll take this one as a win. <g>
I may have given the impression that I’m disdainful of the fine art scene, and
while that sometimes is true, I should point out that those who succeed do so
for a reason. It may be vision, technical skill, or even luck—usually a
combination of all three, plus the willingness to work hard. Work has to be
good, not good enough, but good. Blown highlights, blocked shadows, inability
to control noise, lack of proficiency with tools—all of these contribute to
failure to make “The Show.”
Artists don’t make The Show because they want to; they make it because they are
very good at what they do. You may not agree with what they do, but whatever it
is, they’re good at it. <g>
