I had a similar (but not identical) problem with the X-Pro a while back. I
assumed it was a previously un-noticed side effect of dropping it onto
concrete a few months ago (!).
I was wrong, there was nothing wrong with it. I had it in super-macro mode,
which disable some of the EVF features.
Check the settings - all of them - before you assume it's faulty!

Subject: [OM] Fuji XT-1 problem
last weekend I did a Walt and set up the tripod outside next to the bird
feeder with OM 180/2 attached switched to wireslless mode and used the
phone app to snap some pictures of little birdies. It was a practice
session and I need to refine focus or expand depth of field before
posting results, anyway I have since noticed that I no longer have EVF.
The rear display is fine, I have reset the camera, removed battery,
swapped lenses ,checked brightness and even updated with the new 3.0
firmware released today (well done fujifilm for keeping the updates
coming) but still nothing in the EVF so I am guessing it's faulty, is
there anything else I should try before I return it for repair as I will
be quite lost without it.
In other times I would have ordered the silver edition to keep me going
while its away but now I think I will use it for its wifi capability
over christmas holidays to see if I can get some nice birdy shots and
then send it for repair in january and use the X-pro1 again.
But if anyone has any ideas of what else to try, I had problems a couple
of weeks ago when I found the flash wouldn't work on it until I
discovered it was set to silent mode :-)
Thanks IanW
