I couldn’t be a teacher in schools now. Every time I feel tempted to change
direction for a bit of interest I remember the problems that teachers now have
in keeping a class in order.
In a private school it might be worthwhile, but not in a state school.
And yes, I was wacked a couple of times for poor behaviour: once on the hand at
about 11 years old (the crime now forgotten), once on the behind – “six of the
best” – for smoking indoors at night.
