The manufacturers don't like to talk about the 'odd' stuff. Especially since AF took over, so that the distance
markings, if there at all, are redundant for all but a tiny % of users. You found an explanation in the manual for a
very long, very expensive lens expected to be used by photographers expected to include a large % who may need and
appreciate the info.
Oly has been worse about µ4/3 shutter shock. They included right from the start the Anti-Shock, with settings down to
the 1/8 sec. But mention in the manuals runs from quite obscure to virtually invisible, never admitting to a problem and
being clear how to ameliorate it.
