A bit simplistic. It's about focal length and absolute aperture diameter. At f8, a 50mm lens has an aperture diameter of
6.25 mm, which is the determining factor for diffraction. A 100 mm lens, the rough eq. for 6x7, f8 = 12.5 mm aperture
and 6.25 mm happens at f16.
I do believe that as one gets up to LF, esp. 8x10 and up, the fact that the diffraction disperses farther over the long
lens to film distance does have an effect on the look/drawing/whatever, but that this factor is minimal at 35 mm vs 6x7.
