I'm not too surprised you haven't heard of him, Chuck. He published a few
dozen or so stories in the late 80's and early 90's and one or two novels.
He is still writing but I haven't run across them; I'll have to search them
out. BTW, I got the name wrong: Howard Waldrop.
I read it. Can't say I thought much of it. Seemed rather adolescent to me. Perhaps if I were a War of the Worlds
aficionado ...
The name rang a bell, though. Sure enough, there on a bookshelf was a copy of Going Home Again, a short story
collection. I'm not much of a fan of short stories, so I'm sure I got it on the basis of a very strong recommendation
from someone. Got it out again now; perhaps I'll read some now?
