I got my “new” 50mm collapsible Summicron from the Leica Shop in Vienna last
week. The lens is beauty, absolutely impeccable condition for a piece of kit
from 1953. I forgot of course that it was a screw mount lens, so I had to wait
a few more days for the Fotodiox LTM-M adapter to arrive from Amazon. It did on
Monday, so yesterday I finally had a chance to do some testing. I am happy to
report that the lens performs beautifully on the M8. One of the joys of Leica
is that you can take two pieces of equipment that are 55 years apart and use
them together. So here are three pictures, the first two with the “new”
Summicron, and the third with a 90mm Tele-Elmarit from the mid-1970s, another
one of my favourite M lenses:
