That brings back memories. In 1958 my father lost his job in Michigan
and decided to move the family to Southern California, a land of new and
greater opportunities. He built a trailer to haul (very few of) the
family possessions and traded our 1955 Plymouth for a 1955 Ford station
wagon. That for the V8 engine to haul 6 people and the trailer up and
over the mountains on Route 66. What a memorable event, both disturbing
and exciting, for a 15 year old kid.
